Theme: Radio and Television in Our Life The Aims of the Lesson: to encourage students to use new words and expressions, focus their attention on specific words and word combinations that can make them feel more comfortable and confident in language use; develop students’ skills in reading on the basis of an interesting text; help students develop their vocabulary by active use of the words given; provide opportunities for improving speaking skills. I. Greetings and the aims of the lesson
· Look at these letters of one word: N, I, E, L, T, I, O, S, V, E D, N, A O,D,I,A,R. If you put them in the correct order you'll get the words which mean the most powerful and popular type of mass media, which is also one of the most wonderful inventions of the 20th century. What is it?

III The main part of the lesson · What is the mass media? · What forms of mass media do you know? Now students I would like to organize you into two groups, you can choose the name of your group.
1. Group work. Your task is to match the words and their definitions.
1. a paper printed and sold usually daily or weekly with news, advertisements etc.; 2. the process of sending and receiving messages through the air; broadcasting programmes for people to listen to; 3. broadcasting programmes (the news, plays, advertisements, shows, etc.) for people to watch on their television sets; 4. a newspaper with rather small pages, many pictures and little serious news; 5. a way to communicate with your partner who might be a thousand miles away using the computer (e-mails). 2. T: It should be mentioned that when television arrived, many people predicted that radio would disappear. They were wrong. Since the arrival of television, radio audiences has increased, and radio has more listeners than ever before. I think that radio has become the most important media for music. T: What do you think, when do t people listen to the radio nowadays? P: I think that many people now listen to the radio while they are….. T: What radio stations do you prefer to listen to? P: I prefer to listen to ….
3. T: TV now is one of the most important mass media. We can hardly imagine our life without TV. I think you know much about TV. Prove it answering my questions. 1. What is your favourite TV channel? 2. How often do you usually watch TV? 3. When do you usually watch TV? 4. What are your favourite programmes? 5. Do you prefer to watch TV alone or with your family and friends?
4 Next task is to name the kind of the programme you see on the slide show. You have a set of stickers with different words. Your task is to stick it on TV screen as quickly as you can -Detective films, comedies, adventure films, thriller, documentaries, fantasy, cartoons, news, horror films, soap operas, quiz show. 5.Writing task. To fill the blanks with the words. ( frightening, comedy, boring, action, western, exciting, cartoon) 1. 7. Reading Television in Our Life. The first commercial television broadcast was made on April 20, 1939 by Radio Corporation of America (RCA). Since 1939, it has become one of the most important facts of modern life. Television is a part of the modern world. Its effects are felt all over the world. Television is a reflection of modern world, say some people. It shows contemporary society. It affects customs and culture, others say. Television is bad for culture because it keeps culture from growing, say still others. Good or bad, television is difficult to avoid. Its pictures enter homes, stores, airports and factories. It is here to stay! 8. After- reading activities I.
